Extended education encompasses organized learning activities for children outside regular school hours, such as after-school programmes. These activities vary widely across national contexts in terms of structure, policy, and purpose. By facilitating international dialogue and collaboration, the conference aims to deepen our understanding of extended education and contribute to its development globally.

The volume is edited by Lina Lago and is now available online.

Conference Volume: Extended Education from and International Comparative Point of View

The WERA-IRN conference Extended Education from an International Comparative Point of View held at University of Bamberg, Germany, in 2017 aimed at bringing together different research perspectives, synthesizing the state of research worldwide in this new field of extended education – afterschool and out-of-school time learning –, and initiating an international research direction from a comparative point of view.
